My parents were able to come out two weekends ago and spend a couple days with us. It was really nice. They had not visited since helping us move in this summer. The last time they were here they could not walk around as there were boxes piled everywhere! And so often when they come visit there is a "project" to work on that we don't always get as much "fun time" But not anymore!
We visited the Covered Bridge Festival with Fares' friend's family. It was beautiful and fun, but COLD! We were okay at first, but then it got too chilly, despite our navy beans and ham soup made in a huge kettle over a fire. We saw lots of neat crafts, lots of good food, and lots of pretty trees as well as one covered bridge.
Our friend's daughter also had a birthday party, so we and my parents got a taste of Korean food. Then the kids went at the pinata, which I attempted to keep them from knocking each other out. Gabriela watched from the sidelines and told her dad they were "ruining SpongeBob"
We also went to a pumpkin patch and experimented in a corn maze. We let Gabriela choose the path. I got ahead of her at one point and hid myself to "scare" her when she got close. Then she wanted to hide in the corn and pop out and say "BOO" It was cute! But, alas, it was another cold day. Apparently the pumpkin crops were hit by three different challenges, so the pumpkins were not in the patch, but we did get one decent sized one from a batch they shipped in from elsewhere. We still have not carved it, but need to do that, and then try to cook the meat and freeze it for future use.
