Here is my little "angel" with her father... LOL! Read below for an explanation.
Last Christmas, we had a get together with our brasilian friends and had a sort of "gag gift" exchange... the sort where you get a silly gift, then have to choose a gift, and then someone can later "steal" it from you...
Anyway-- Fares got a gift, then it was stolen, then a different gift was indicated to him in such a way they knew he would thoroughly enjoy that particular gift. So he opened the gift bag and it was a scary Halloween mask. So Fares, the child at heart that he is, immediately put it on. Now, during this part, Gabriela was engaged on the other side of the room, not particularly paying much attention. So, not knowing exactly what to suspect (and she not being a big scaredy cat) I innocently asked her where her daddy was. Well, she was aware of where he had been sitting, and looked to that same spot, but saw him with the mask on. Well, I so wish I had had a video camera running, because she did not scream, or cry or freak out, but she did get quite a startle. She literally jumped back into the lap of the girl right behind her and the look on her face went from so normal to such a state of silent surprise that it was too funny not to laugh.
Now, she was quite startled and did not like the mask, so we have kept it out of sight since then. But then the other day she came out of our bedroom looking like this:
Apparently, she has lost her fear of the mask. :)

That picture is priceless! One more way she's like the girl from Monsters' Inc. Hope you get to spend more time at the parks and less battling the lineoleum. We've had several weekends tied up with family visits lately, but we really want to find a chance to come see you.
What pretty parks! Also what a pretty little girl you have (better without the mask then with it though).
