I've been a bit quiet here lately, so thought I would share with you all we've been doing recently. Fares has been done with his summer classes since the 6th, so we've been doing our best to have some fun before the fall classes start up again (this Wed!). Over our 6th wedding anniversary we headed over to Ohio. We visited my aunt and cousins in Columbus with my parents on Sat, then that Sun my parents took Gabriela to my mom's mom's family reunion (they've had one every year for almost 115 years now!) While they were picnicking (?) Fares and I hung out with some really cool friends of ours that also live in Columbus. They are a brasilian/american couple like us and are without children (they have a cool jeep we ran around in too). We took in a movie for a buck (that way we could afford popcorn :) and some Graeter's icecream (good stuff) and hung out at their place. We even found a Brasilian supermarket and got a few needed items. The next day (yes! We spent our first night away from Gabriela! She did great with Grandma/pa) we walked on the beach and went driving around for homegrown peaches we did not find, then had an awesome meal at a place called Aladdin's. Then, alas, we returned to being the responsible parents we have to be and welcomed reality back. With hugs and kisses of course :)
This weekend, after a number of previous attempts, we made it to a local park and spent a couple hours playing in the swimming/beach area of the lake there. Gabriela enjoyed it immensely. She learned how to make sand castles with her sand toys. Will post pictures soon! We also were able to enjoy an outside musical concert of the local community band. And the best part, all was FREE!

Wow, a night without a kid! That sounds so fun. We want to do that before our next is born.
Sounds like fun! We need a childless get away too.
