Nice Neighbors

We have been blessed in so many ways in our move. Fares got a good job that we believe will grow and be a blessing for many years; Gabriela's school seems to be going well; we found a good house for a good price; and we have some pretty awesome neighbors!

We first met them the day we found the house. Our realtor encouraged us to do a little extra research before rushing in to make an offer. So we went back to the neighborhood looking for a family with school age children to ask about the school, etc. A couple houses up we spotted a girls' bike and decided to try our luck. The lady of the house was at home and came out to talk to us (she later said it was a good thing I was also present or she would not have talked to just Fares :) Turns out her daughter is a couple years older than Gabriela and they are originally from NYC. She is Puerto Rican and her husband is from Honduras! That alone was pretty neat! She also works at the school and assured us it was a great place! So we felt pretty good about the neighborhood and potential neighbors after our 15 minute chat.

Once we moved in, she shows up the next morning with a box full of very yummy pastries to welcome us to the neighborhood. She wound up staying for a couple hours and the girls disappeared upstairs to play! So... that was pretty much it. Immediate good friends. They were just as excited as we were to have found us!

Since then it's been that great neighborly friendship. A shared meal here, a borrowed onion there, the girls play often and for hours and we've even picked up each others' kid from school already! What a blessing! It's amazing sometimes the details that God seems to figure out for you to make a blessing that much sweeter, and it being something that you would only wish or hope for ...
