SIX YEARS OLD!

Gabriela turned 6 this week. To celebrate, we invited our closest friends over for a "Magical Pink Pony Party" (*had* to get away from the princesses this year and I think this theme seemed to work out well all around)

There were 4 little girls (and 2 other siblings, which coincidentally also have birthdays this week)







We did a lot of crafts for starters. They made painted rainbows, a rocking horse made out of toilet paper rolls, glued gems onto real horseshoes painted pink, added glitter to homemade pink or purple play-doh, had lots of stickers to play with and we even did a couple rounds of pin the horn on the unicorn.







It was a late-afternoon event, so after all this we actually were pretty hungry, so we did dinner next. My awesome husband made a great dinner... chicken cooked with rice, brasilian black bean stew (feijoada) and salad.



The girls were then a little anxious to open presents and they all clammered all over Gabriela in order to help her pick the next present :) She got quite a bit of good stuff. Here are a few highlights.

An extra special gift from Great-Grandma... a bear she made years ago for Great-Grandpa.



Then... the cake! What's a birthday without a cake?? And, as always, I try to be as creative as possible with tutelage from my master cake-making cousin ;) I copied the napkin, enlarged the image, cut out the cake and decorated with icing stars. It was confetti white cake on the inside. And served with pink sherbert, of course.





We were blessed to have all of our family with us, in addition to our wonderful friends and their great kids!



And that was that. A party. Seemingly simple, but exhausting in the end. We cleaned up, then the weather was so incredibly nice, we took the girls outside to play until 10pm!
