We found one!

A house that is!!! We really enjoyed being homeowners in the past, and though renting has served us well, we are more than ready to get into a house again. But this time we are on a tight timeline and living three hours away from an area we've never lived in or are familiar with. Different story than the last time. But... we did prevail! After a couple days of agonizing over which realtor to work with, one offered to give us a tour of the area. Music to our ears. Fares' new job will take place on three different campuses, and though they are not too far from one another, location is number one in real estate.

We actually found our house the first weekend we spent looking (many hours with our realtor) but we found it! We started bidding, and went back and forth a couple times, then the seller stopped negotiating. We were bummed but at peace that things would work out. We opted to comb through listings for another day of hunting the next weekend. We found nothing that would work for us, and the rest are all tied up in the foreclosure process (a long process if you really want a house that way). We showed the house to our friends that had come along for the day (like the old days; we had gone house hunting with them the first time around years ago)... we all agreed that "our" house was the best buy out there for us - in all the good ways. So we put another offer back on the table and half-way home, WE GOT IT!!!


It is a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 2 story (no basement), 1 car attached garage, and it appears to be in good condition. We want to add our own touches with paint and replace the downstairs carpet, but we are excited!

Backyard view. It's a fairly good size backyard, but we are in Kentucky, so this yard goes uphill in terrace fashion. Not flat by any means. I guess we will adapt and we think we can make it work, though it's not ideal.

Pretty kitchen and big! Stove and small dishwasher are to the left of the sink, with the counter going even further. We even get a separate dining room. And two windows that look outside.

Yeah!! We are very content with our purchase. Home inspection is tomorrow, so fingers are crossed there is nothing major that is hiding from us (our friend's casual inspection got the thumbs up and he's got a good eye). We should close July 17. Then move at the end of the month. Oh, and the neighborhood seems really good too. We met three neighbors - two of the families were hispanic! One is a cop and the other works at the school Gabriela will go to! We are excited and very confident this is the house for us at this point and time! We were lucky to get it! God is good!! All the time.
