(note:sorry for such late posting, but was waiting on pics, which I will try to get soon. I did not use my camera that weekend)
We had a blast this weekend at my parents' with our friends' and their children.
First we went down to the creek for some "crick' stompin'" and rock skipping competitions.
Then we took them for a quick tour of the barn and a ride around the ring on the horse.
We had a soggy bbq on Sunday for my birthday. But my grandparents made the effort to come down to mom and dad's, which was really great! We had some good bbq food, and homemade icecream ... it's just not my birthday without it! Fares made a great chocolate cake too!
Monday was the parade, and it was great to see my band alma mater do me proud, with our band director still there doing his stuff. How awesome! What was even crazier, though... Fares saw a guy walking with a Boy Scout troop and said it looked like a guy we used to work with back when we were dating/engaged. I said, yeah sure. We've lost track of them and it's just a guy who "looks" like him. But Fares was convinced... this was our friend... So he says his name and the guy looks at us, rather dumbfoundedly. It was truly him!!! We were all totally amazed and bewildered. He had been living in my hometown for the past year! How crazy is that?!?! So we were able to keep up with him for another block or so and get his cell number. He and his family then came out and had bbq leftovers with us while we caught up on almost 7 years!
On our way back home that day, we stopped to visit other friends en route for the evening, which is always nice to see and hang out with them. So, all in all, a very nice weekend and lots of fun, even if tiring.
